Wedding Film: Tópart Hotel, Balatonvilágos

Flóra and Ian’s wedding was where the gentle elegance of Lake Balaton met the dignity of Scottish traditions and the emotional depth of two wonderful people. On a hot summer Tuesday in late June, something truly special happened on the lakeside lawn of the Tópart Hotel, with the lake and sky melting into one in the background.

Ian and his groomsmen wore traditional Scottish kilts in full regalia, standing tall and proud in the 40°C heat without a word of complaint. His outfit featured his family’s tartan and a noble brooch on his shoulder – and, as everyone could see, his heart belonged to Flóra.

First Look – Tears in the Sound of Bagpipes

One of the most touching moments of the ceremony was when the couple saw each other for the first time that day. Flóra arrived at the ceremony on her father’s arm, with live bagpipe music playing across the lakeshore. There, at the altar, we saw a different side of Ian – a tender, emotional one. Until then, he had always been the cheerful, light-hearted guy with a constant smile. But as he watched his bride approach, and took her hand from her father, his eyes welled up with tears. It was a pure, honest, heartfelt moment – and a joy to capture in their wedding film.

Handfasting – Bound Together, Forever

A standout part of the lakeside wedding ceremony was the handfasting – a Celtic tradition where the couple’s hands are bound together with ribbons. But this time, the gesture carried an even deeper meaning: Flóra contributed a piece from her wedding dress, and Ian brought a strip of fabric from his kilt. Their ribbon wasn’t just symbolic, it was personal – a literal connection between their two worlds. To witness and film this was a privilege.

Interestingly, this was the first time I had encountered a handfasting ceremony at a wedding – but since then, I keep seeing it pop up everywhere online. It seems this unifying ritual is gaining popularity again.

One Dock, One Sunset, One Kiss

We filmed their creative couple session at sunset, on a dock stretching over the lake. The soft light, the mirror-like water, and the easy, deep connection between them came together to create moments that went far beyond visuals – they conveyed real emotion. This is the kind of footage every wedding filmmaker dreams of.

A Reception Entrance Straight from the Heart

Their entrance to the wedding dinner was unforgettable. The guests greeted them with applause and twirling napkins, but Flóra and Ian didn’t just walk in – they went table to table, hugging and toasting with each guest. It was warm, personal, and filled with joy. And they gave back just as much love as they received.

A Love That Teaches

During the speeches, we learned about their journey together – how Scottish whisky became part of Flóra’s life, and Hungarian grammar part of Ian’s. Ian gave half of his speech in Hungarian. It was a beautiful and courageous gesture. During the couple session, Flóra told us that Ian had been studying Hungarian every single day for over a year, using Duolingo. That dedication says it all.

Not only Ian, but his friends and siblings gave memorable speeches. We laughed so much – even behind the cameras!

We truly loved this wedding. Every single moment felt unique: the endless smiles, the laughter, the playful mood, the golden light of a Balaton sunset, the kilts and bagpipes, the emotional toasts, and the vows that were both funny and romantic.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding where tradition meets personality, where the sunset isn’t just a backdrop but a memory, and where every hug counts – take inspiration from Flóra and Ian’s unforgettable day.
